The Proposal Weekend

Richard and I are taking the plunge! No… we’re not joining a swim team… we’re getting MARRIED!
We decided to get engaged while on a 6-hr drive from Toronto to Montreal on Thursday (for my birthday weekend — I was getting spoiled). On Saturday we found and bought a ring then found a park where we had a mini picnic and exchanged ‘vows’. Then we enjoyed a two-for-one birthday AND engagement dinner celebration with friends!
I think the jeweller thought we were either the most impulsive couple he’d ever met, or the most decisive!
Parents seemed a bit confused that there was no grand gesture on one knee and didn’t quite understand how we’d be shopping for a ring before the formal engagement. Modern times I guess… women’s lib and all that. But they were thrilled nonetheless and there was a sense of it’s about time. And in fact there was one reference already to ETA on babies!! (RELAX, people!)
We’re lucky to have a talented photographer in the family, cousin Robert, who joined us in our old neighbourhood for a photoshoot. Here are all of the pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rewart/sets/72157631177278842/
And here are just some:
